The Senators are excited to announce the release of their upcoming performance video series shot at the historic Orpheum Theatre in downtown Phoenix, beginning Thursday, March 25th. The four videos are stripped-back performances of tracks from the band's recent sophomore release, Wild Wide Open, which has seen early success with over 2.5 million streams on Spotify and counting.
While the COVID-19 pandemic has put the band's touring on hold, The Senators have worked to find new ways to connect with their fans -- and shine a light on the hardship the pandemic has brought to the music industry. "So many stages are sitting empty right now, and the industry has taken such a hit, we wanted to do what we could to help," said Senators' lead singer and songwriter Jesse Teer, who saw this as an opportunity to raise awareness and support for the National Independent Venue Association (NIVA)'s #SaveOurStages campaign.
The Senators want to extend special thanks to the Friends of The Orpheum and the City of Phoenix for collaborating with them on this project. "The Orpheum has been a Valley landmark for nearly a century," Teer said. "To perform on that stage in any capacity was a huge honor."
"Live music, theatrical performances, movies, and entertainment are the heartbeat of the Orpheum Theatre," said Alison Sipes, Board Member with Friends of the Orpheum Theatre. "But even more important, are the community relationships that Friends of the Orpheum Theatre is honored to cultivate and collaborate with in Phoenix. The gorgeous atmosphere of the theatre really shines through in The Senators new videos, and we are so excited that their magic is being shared to help the wonderful cause that is NIVA."
Without live performances, The Senators have made the most of quarantine, recently signing their first record deal with Phoenix-based Fervor Records. “We’re proud to welcome The Senators to the Fervor Records family. Not only are we excited about the The Senators’ upcoming efforts, we’re equally enthusiastic to include their tremendous back catalog to the deal," said David Hilker, CEO of Fervor Records. "The band’s beautifully crafted songs and timeless sound are truly an Arizona treasure and Fervor Records is deeply committed to perpetuating their continued legacy.”
"The real heart of what we do is the show, so this past year has been really tough. We miss the energy and togetherness that really only happens in venues and through live music,” Teer said. “It sucks to watch venues and bands we know call it quits. We're thankful to the folks at Fervor Records and collaborators like Danny Upshaw and Dario Miranda for helping us grow as an act and create in a meaningful way despite the distance right now.” The live performance series will premiere on Thursday, March 25 and continue each Thursday through mid-April.
