The Phoenix Convention Center is opening its doors this Thanksgiving to offer a traditional holiday meal to anyone who is looking for a place to go.

The Salvation Army Annual Thanksgiving Dinner will take place Thursday, November 23, in the South Building of the Phoenix Convention Center. The doors open at 9:30 a.m. for entertainment and meal service begins at 11:30 a.m. through 1:30 p.m.

“The Salvation Army is extremely grateful to the City of Phoenix and Phoenix Convention Center for hosting holiday dinners with us each year,” said Lt. Colonel Ivan Wild, The Salvation Army Southwest Divisional Commander. “The incredible support of their leadership and staff has given us the opportunity to provide a free, public event in a great facility where anyone is welcome to come for food, fellowship and fun. The meals mean more than just a full stomach for our guests: We hope it gives them fuel for a full heart, a full night’s sleep, and days full of possibilities.”

Aventura, the exclusive catering partner of Phoenix Convention Center & Venues, plays a huge role in bringing the holiday magic to life. Chef Patrick Kehler and the rest of the Aventura kitchen staff cooks everything from the turkeys and stuffing to mashed potatoes to all the desserts one could hope for on Thanksgiving. The Salvation Army lends a hand in the kitchen, as well, helping with prep work, cleaning turkeys, mixing vegetables and slicing pies.

The event is free and open to the public. No advanced signup or registration is required. More information is available on the Salvation Army website
