There are few places in the nation that possess the ability to host outdoor events October through April. With 80,000 square feet of event space at our Canyon on Third—the Phoenix Convention Center can make any event planner’s wildest dream come to life.

With beautiful weather and breathtaking views of our distinctive canyon-inspired architecture, Canyon on Third is the perfect venue for receptions, block parties, musical acts, and so much more.

This outdoor, urban event space is between our West and North buildings, located on City-owned 3rd Street between Monroe Street and Washington Street and nestled in the heart of bustling downtown Phoenix.

“Canyon on Third is a blank canvas,” said Sarah Field, deputy director of sales and marketing at the Phoenix Convention Center & Venues. “The sky is literally the limit with what you can do with this space. We have hosted a variety of vibrant and lively events in Canyon on Third, and we love that we have an outdoor space offering, especially for guests visiting from colder parts of the country.”

Clients such as the Golf Course Superintendents Association of America have found creative ways to utilize the space, turning half of the street into a golf course while the other half served as a stage for entertainment.

This month, Jack Henry held its 2024 Jack Henry Connect at the Phoenix Convention Center and utilized Canyon on Third for its opening night welcome party reception.

Other clients have installed rock walls, held live music performances and added the perfect large photo background to keep their events fun and engaging for attendees.

“This space can be anything,” Field said. “We’ve had clients produce concerts, bring in 20-foot LED screens and aerialists to transform the space.  Later this year, a client is building a Ferris wheel in Canyon on Third. We are always stunned to see the ways people get creative with the space.”

The name Canyon on Third comes from the design of the facility. An homage to Arizona’s beautiful canyons, 3rd Street sits between our two buildings similar to how the Colorado River cuts through the Grand Canyon. And our architecture is certainly grand.

“Looking at the facility, particularly at sunset, it’s a gorgeous backdrop to any event,” Field said. “It offers the perfect opportunity to create memorable events under the Arizona sky.”
