Our resident companies
The Phoenix Symphony, Arizona Opera and Ballet Arizona call Symphony Hall their home. These resident clients, along with outside promoters and other arts organizations, bring more than 180 events into Symphony Hall each year, drawing thousands of patrons.
Founded in 1947, the 76-member Phoenix Symphony is Arizona's only full-time, professional symphony orchestra and the state's largest performing-arts group.
It performs more than 200 concerts and presentations per year throughout the state from September through May. In addition to the symphony’s subscription series of classics, pops, chamber orchestra and family concerts, the orchestra collaborates with other arts groups, such as Ballet Arizona, Phoenix Chorale, Phoenix Boys Choir and the Arizona State University Choral Union.
Each season, the Symphony performs for more than 80,000 students and children (representing more than 260 schools), helping to introduce music to new generations through a variety of education, community and youth-engagement programs.
Arizona Opera has proudly served the communities of Arizona for more than 35 years.
The company produces a five-opera season with two performances in Tucson and four performances in Phoenix. It reaches more than 53,000 patrons and is one of only a handful of opera companies that perform regularly in two cities.
Arizona Opera reaches an additional 40,000 students, teachers and community members statewide every year through its education and outreach programs.
Ballet Arizona is the Southwest’s premiere professional ballet company.
For more than 20 years, Ballet Arizona has dedicated itself to preserving and celebrating classical dance while creating and commissioning new, innovative works. Dancers and audiences alike continue to be challenged by the diversity of the repertory, which has become a major strength of the company and contributes to its growing success.
Ballet Arizona is also passionately committed to educational and outreach opportunities, reaching more than 45,000 children every year.
