New Restrictions

56th STREET AT MAYO BOULEVARD

56th Street is scheduled to be restricted from 7 p.m. Friday, May 16, until 4 p.m. Monday, May 19, for installation of a new waterline.

During the work, 56th Street will be restricted to two lanes (one lane in each direction).

Local and hospital access will be maintained.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

Project completion is scheduled for late fall.

PEORIA AVENUE – 39TH TO 35TH AVENUES

35TH AVENUE – PEORIA AVENUE TO CACTUS ROAD

Peoria Avenue is scheduled to be restricted on Monday, May 12, for a City of Phoenix Water Services Department major sanitary sewer project.

During this work, two lanes eastbound and two lanes westbound will be maintained at all times on Peoria Avenue. On 35th Avenue, one to two lanes will be restricted northbound, with all other lanes remaining open at all times.

At the intersection of 35th Avenue and Peoria Avenue, major boring operations will begin on May 12, and restrictions will continue for the length of the project. Eastbound left turn lanes will intermittently be restricted.

Major restrictions in this intersection will occur during night time hours, from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. one lane in all directions will remain open at all times.

Officers will be on site to assist in traffic control.

Local and business access is being maintained.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

Project completion is scheduled for late October.

SHEA BOULEVARD – 40TH STREET TO TATUM BOULEVARD

Shea Boulevard is scheduled to be restricted beginning Monday, May 12, for a major Southwest Gas Company replacement of natural gas pipelines.

During this work, Shea Boulevard will have two lanes maintained eastbound during the hours of 6 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. for peak traffic and one lane eastbound will remain open at all other times. All lanes westbound on Shea Boulevard will remain open for the duration of the project. Tatum Boulevard construction will not begin until June and will have two lanes remain open at all times both northbound and southbound.

All intersection work will be done at night from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m.

Local and business access will be maintained.

Police officers will be on site as needed to assist in traffic control.

Drivers are encouraged to allow for additional travel time during this period.

Project completion is scheduled for late July.

Special Events

COX COMMUNICATIONS EVERY DAY HEROES EVENT – MAY 15, THROUGH 17

This annual event will take place at Orpheum Theater.

The following street will be closed on Thursday, May 15, starting at 7 a.m. for this event:

Parking access will be maintained.

All Street will open to normal traffic by midnight Sunday, May 18.
