Double Homicide at 3400 East University - 10/10/08
On 10/10/08, at approximately 1:58 a.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired and vehicles chasing each other in the area of 3400 E University. Upon arrival to the area, officers found two, black male victims, dead in a silver Dodge Caliber. Both victims had apparent gunshot wounds and ultimately crashed into a tree on the south side of E University. No suspects remained in the area. To rea more, click here
Suspicious Package Brought to Police Headquarters - 10/09/08
Shortly after 5:00 p.m. this evening, a man and a woman came to Phoenix Police Headquarters at 620 W. Washington to report that they had received a package at their place of business, which is a real estate office in the area of 1900 E. Camelback. When the package was opened, the man found it contained a suspicious substance. After discovering the substance, the man re-closed the package and put it in the trunk of his car and drove to the main police station. To read more, click here.
Faces of an Accused Serial Shooter - 10/09/08
Defense attorney, Ken Everett, opened Day 2 of accused serial killer Dale Hausner's trial by telling jurors that Hausner is being fingered for killing eight people and targeting 20 others by his roommate, Samuel Dieteman. On the other hand, prosecutors, led by Vincent Imbordino, called Hausner "…a narcissist who watched with excitement as news reports logged his alleged killings and fear spread across the Phoenix area in 2005 and 2006. “ READ MORE

Memorial fund created for 16 year-old shooting victim- 10-08-08
“It’s a good area with some bad people living in it,” said a visibly disturbed Tommy Thompson, a sergeant in the department’s Media Relations Detail. Seated across from him was Channel 3 reporter, Ben Lemoine, who was gathering more information surrounding the tragic and senseless shooting that took the life of an innocent 16 year-old girl named Melissa Vigil. Shooting 2200 W. Hidalgo/400 W. Southern - 10/07/08
At approximately 12:48 a.m. on 10-07-08, a pickup truck drove up to the South Mountain Precinct at 400 W. Southern. Several of the five occupants ran in and said someone in the truck was shot. Officers ran out and found a 16-year-old female with a gunshot wound. READ MORE

Parking on the south curb at PPD Headquarters was at a premium at around 2 p.m. on Monday afternoon, October 6th. Officer Involved Shooting, 2900 E. Sky Harbor Blvd - 10/07/08
Shortly after 10:00 p.m. on 10-06-09, a Phoenix policeofficer wason routine patrol in the area of 2900 E. Sky Harbor Boulevard when he observed the listed suspect riding a bicycle near the west economy parking lot. Thinking the suspect appeared suspicious, the officer drove next to the suspect and told him to stop so they could talk. READ MORE
Sexual Abuse Suspect - 10/06/08
Between March 24, 2008 and September 30, 2008, there were several incidents of sexual abuse in which the listed suspect approached the victims on foot as they walked on or near a public thoroughfare or other public location. READ MORE
On 10-05-08 at approximately 12:25 A.M., Vehicle #1, a 1992 Infinite was traveling southbound in the inside lane of 59th Avenue. Expect a train anytime from either direction around the light rail tracks - 10/05/08
METRO light rail is vehicle testing on Valley roadways. Trains are out there everyday, with several trains out at one time. In the fall, trains will be testing such a regular rate, across all 20 miles that the system will appear in service. READ MORE

Man Arrested for Selling Marijuana, Cocaine and Methamphetamine from his Pizza Restaurant - 10/01/08
On October 1, 2008 at approximately 4:00pm, during a health inspection at a pizza restaurant located at 2932 N. 16th Street, County Health Inspectors found marijuana in the walk-in cooler. After finding the illegal drugs, the inspectors left the restaurant and notified the Phoenix Police Department. READ MORE
Man Gets 7 Years for Sexual Abuse of Teen on Aircraft - 10/02/08
Shawn Michael Cole, 40, of Honolulu, Hawaii, was sentenced here yesterday to seven years in federal prison by U.S. District Judge Susan R. Bolton. Cole pleaded guilty on May 20, 2008 to Sexual Abuse of a Minor and Abusive Sexual Contact. Both crimes were committed aboard an aircraft. At the completion of his sentence, Cole will be on lifetime supervised release and must register as a sex offender. Read More

ATTENTION
Effective immediately, the City of Phoenix will administer the Police Recruit/Cadet written exam one time every other month. The written test will be administered on October 17, 2008, and the next written test will be on December 19, 2008. Check in time will be at 3:00 p.m., with the exam starting at 3:30 p.m.
All applicants must apply online BEFORE the written exam.
