Arts Education Schools

Evaluation Criteria

Applications are evaluated and ranked by panelists using the criteria listed below. Because your application will compete with other proposals, be sure to address as many points under each criterion as possible in your application.

Helpful Hint: Print out this page and refer to it often as you write your application.


Project Quality

  • Relationship between project goals and proposed activities
  • Qualifications, background and experience of the artists or consultants involved
  • Effective use of the artists'/consultants' skills in the project
  • Quality and usefulness of instructional materials to be used in the project


Planning

  • Clearly defined relationship between the artist/consultant and the school
  • Strong planning for logistics of the residency or project
  • Efforts to involve special populations
  • Effective project evaluation plan (please include sample assessment tool))


Education Strategy

  • Effective integration of the project into the school's curriculum areas
  • Enhancement of the school's current arts programs
  • Relationship of proposed project to the Arizona Arts Standards


Budget

  • Appropriateness of the project costs to the services provided and the number of participants in the project
  • Financial support from the school community
  • Balanced and accurate project budget

Ability to Complete Project

  • Involvement of administrators, classroom teachers, arts faculty and parents in the project
  • Available resources and expertise to administer the project
  • Success of past projects
